Indianapolis Adoption Therapy Therapist Indiana Alli Mohler

I'm Alli, a Hoosier born and raised! My Indiana roots carried me through my education, obtaining both my Bachelor's and Master's in Social Worker from Indiana University (Bloomington 2007 and Indianapolis 2010, respectively). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and love to partner with teens, adults and families on their journeys of discovery, growth, grieving and healing. While I specialize in adoption, I also work with individuals experiencing trauma/grief/loss, depression and anxiety. I am trained in Brainspotting and my work is influenced and informed by Internal Family Systems, attachment, cognitive-behavioral and humanistic theories.

I am a former adoption professional of over a decade. Over the years, I grew increasingly critical of the US domestic infant adoption industry (not those impacted by it) and the work I played a part in. I am an advocate for sweeping adoption reform to prioritize family preservation when safe and possible, prevent unnecessary adoptions and when the former cannot happen, to make adoption safer for all involved. I now use the extensive experience and knowledge I've gained in the field to support adoptees, birth parents and adoptive parents in the lifelong, often complex journey of adoption. This may include navigating open and transracial adoption, the trauma/grief/loss inherent in relinquishment, search and reunion, foster care, kinship care, infertility, parenting and more.

I live in the heart of Indianapolis with my husband, three young sons and our sweet pup, Tank. I have a passion for both the arts and athletics and combined these two growing up, competing as a synchronized swimmer. I love the outdoors (walking, running, hiking!) yoga, music and taking dance lessons with my husband. I am known for my relentless curiosity, about myself, others and the world around us, and believe it to be the honor and privilege of my life to support others on their sacred journey of self-discovery and growth.
